One last push

So, now that Brad is done with school, we have so much time on our hands-to hang out as a family and for me to have a break. Ha, ha. Just kidding. Okay, I wish that were the truth, but it's not. We are making one last push to finish the house and it is taking all of mine and daddy's time. Hopefully, our kids can be as understanding as a 4, 2, and 9mtn old can be.

Also, Aaron and I went to kindergarten orientation (even though he may or may not go to this school:). One of the potential teachers is gifted education certified which means she will bring more advanced materials into the classroom if a child shows higher capabilities. So, that seems more promising for us.

Easter Weekend

Okay, Sunday again so I have some time to sit down and blog (and Brad can't make me work on the house). We did the annual Easter Egg Hunts. We hunted for eggs with our Friday playgroup. Saturday, we went to the park and introduced two more families to this secret West Jordan egg hunt (I have no idea the address so if you want more info you'll have to let me know.)

And on Sunday, Chelsea took some pictures for us and we had our own hunt. Our Easter Bunny always makes our kids find their baskets. Aaron read the clues by himself and Ian was bored until Aaron told him he found the baskets.

(Yes, the Easter Bunny gave my boys goggles-they were a big hit!
And kites that are broken now.)

That night we had to say goodbye to Aunt CiCi which was sad, but we enjoyed having her visit with us. Thanks Chelsea for all the painting and entertaining the kids, and picture taking.

Happy Birthday Aaron!

So we celebrated Aaron's birthday on Saturday (so Brad could help me with the party). We invited 16, probably 12 showed up. There was a little bit of chaos, but everyone had fun.
We were also excited to have Aunt Lu come to the party. Isn't Mia a great transformer?
Grandma stopped by earlier during the week and sadly we did not take a picture:(

Now that Aaron is five, he is showing us just how grown up he can be. Brad took Aaron to a church parking lot and they practiced without training wheels for 15 minutes (then it started to snow). Aaron can now ride a bike. I'm so proud of him and so glad daddy is home to do these things with him! This is a video two days later of Aaron showing off for me.

This past week I took Aaron to the doctor for his kindergarten physical. He had to have 4 shots and didn't even cry. I was very impressed. Also, the doctor says he reads better than any other 5 year old she's seen. She thinks I should get him into an advanced program somewhere. Ha, ha. I've tried and tried and Utah offers nothing (free) until about 2nd grade. They won't even let him skip a grade. I'm just a pushy parent who thinks my kid is smart. I'm not trying to emphasize how smart he is, I'm just trying to keep him challenged so he doesn't get bored and develop bad study skills from work that is too easy. He reads on a second grade level and he's going to be reviewing his ABCs. I'm a little frustrated. Anyone have any ideas of what I should do? I don't want Aaron to get to college where he will have to study and realize he doesn't know how. (Like some other people I know).

Laughter is Contagious

So, Lani's laugh isn't so much a laugh as kind of a screech, but I still love it. Check out my cute kiddie laughing.

Momnesia

Brad just emailed me this link. He wanted me to know that it is now scientifically proven that us mommies have memory loss issues. Duh. (Like when I know there was something I was supposed to do and I can't for the life of me remember what it was.) today.msnbc.msn.com/id/23501326/

What It's All About

First, I know my counter does not fit in my layout, but I'm too lazy to come up with a solution. Second, thank you fellow bloggers for making my day! Today, since Ian was up at 6am, (usually I put a movie on and go back to sleep), then Lani woke up 20 min. later (about the time I had reached my bed), I decided to get ready early so I could do my hair and try to actually look cute for a change. I had a lot of errands to run while Aaron was at school this morning so that seemed to be a good excuse to make myself look more presentable. Four and a half hours later, after Albertsons, Target, and the Library, Ian started his normal meltdown process (due to his early mornings). First he wouldn't get in his seat or put the seatbelt on (sadly, he can get it off by himself). Eventually, he even locked me out of the car (not new, but this time I left the keys in the front seat). I was able to coax him into opening the door (I may have yelled in the school parking lot a little). So, needless to say, by the time I got home, I was a little tired and frustrated. We finished the lunch routine and I sat down at the computer to have some "time away" as Brad puts it. I'm not sure why, but just reading the new stuff on everyone's blogs helps me relax and feel better as a mommy. I kinda feel like it's my communication with other adults that I don't get to get that often. Plus, all the pictures and funny stories make me remember that I really do enjoy being a mom despite the tough stuff. So, thanks everyone for reminding me and being my outlet=) By the way, if you guys have not checked out In the Motherhood (these Suave online episodes), they are hilarious. Just go to: www.inthemotherhood.msn.com
They're based on real mom's stories.

I'm a lion!

Sunday night for Ohana Night (FHE) we reenacted the story of Daniel and the Lion's Den. I made a lion mask for Ian to be the lion, but surprisingly, Lani wanted to wear it. It was just too cute.

I need my blankie...

My boys have always needed a blankie to sleep with at night. I think I encouraged it thinking it would help them sleep better, ha, ha, that didn't work. Anyway, Lani is carrying on the tradition. She's a thumb sucker, but still needs her blankie.
